Ultra compact, DSP based motor drives for multiple axes application with CANOPEN bus control for textile spindles.

High integration, DSP based drives and very high efficiency BPM motors for multiple spindle textile machines.
Many types of textile machines need several (100-500) high speed spindles on a single large machine for continuous thread processing. Traditionally, such applications were served with a large drive and a long belt, thus running all spindles at the same speed. This solution is energy efficient but inflexible and suitable for large batches only.
Phase Motion Control developed the first solution for independently driven spindles which yields even higher energy efficiency that the belt solution coupled with completely independent control of each spindle.

The Phase Motion Control system consists of very high efficiency (>90%), high speed (up to 20,000 rpm) rare earth permanent magnet motors with detachable rotors and built in position sensor for automatic thread insertion, output power up to 350 W; High efficiency, high voltage individual DSP based drives, sinusoidal, ultrasonic, which derive power from a 400 VDC common bus and are individually controlled through a CANOPEN field bus interface. The drives integrate their own auxiliary power supply and are capable of independent position and speed control.

The overall system has efficiency greater than 85% and can slow down the spindles in control, regenerating energy on the DC bus, even in the event of line failure.
The multidrive system can be synchronized by a master AXV drive which runs the CANOPEN fieldbus while controlling a master servo drive and supporting a operator panel via the MODBUS interface.
