Specialty, semi-custom DD solutions co-designed in cooperation between the Phase MC and Customer R&D team.
The co-design of novel, innovative drive solutions for new machine models is becoming mandatory or at least very advisable, due to the ever increasing progress of DD technology which offers key performance advantages on condition of ever greater design integration.
To this end Phase Motion Control develop, together with the Customer R&D team, customized DD solutions which take advantage both of existing Phase drive technology and tooling together with the specific process know how of the Customer to achieve the best integration at the lowest system cost.
This co operational approach, which needs to start at the onset of any new machine design, is proving optimal; the Customer gains access to a wider range of technology and expertise than they could possibly possess alone, and the resulting product achieves the highest level of value and functionality through complete integration, often taking advantage of existing tooling and techniques.
The motors shown in the picture are an example of this co design model applied to mid size NC lathes. The motors are complete DD spindle solutions, with S1 torque up to 1500 Nm, maximum speed up to 4000 rpm. The motors operate both as spindle and as a rotary high stiffness milling axis. The rotors integrate the interface for the sensor, the brake disk, and the chuck piston in a single part; the die cast frame has integral water cooling. |
