The range of integral linear actuators developed by Phase Motion Control
for various linear positioning applications, and specifically to ease
the replacement of hydraulic cylinders in plastic injection molding
machines, delivers a complete functionality packaged in a single engineered
unit, comprising of a high performance, rare earth PM servo motor
derived from the Ultract range, with a hollow shaft, which can take
the fully retracted lead screw; a special front end with a high axial
load bearing system which houses the rotary nut of the lead screw,
and which is driven by the motor part.

This special unit, which comprises twop torque motors and
a special dual thread roller screw, is capable of controlling
both rotation and thrust of the actuated shaft. The innovative
operation principle, with only 3 moving parts and power, torque
and thrust equally distributed on the two drives, motors and
nuts, was awarded an international patent by Phase Motion
Control. The first unit, capable of operating a 250 ton plastic
injection molding machine, went into service in late 2000.
